If you have finer lines, some minor tiredness, and just need something to brighten up your eye area this will do it.

I’d wouldn’t even say the coverage is medium.
#Tarte shape tape color full#
It brightens up the eye area nicely but it doesn’t offer the full coverage it promises. I can also set it easily with powder without any creasing issues nor any fading. Typically hydrating concealers tend to fade quickly on me but this wore very well. I do have fine lines and I am dry but I had no issues using this and it is in fact ideal for my eyes! I think it wears very well for a hydrating concealer. It feels amazing! It’s very hydrating and doesn’t accentuate the dryness under my eyes which I’m prone too. Initially it’s very pigmented but as you blend the color sheers out and leaves you with a lot less coverage than you’d get from the original formula. It starts out thick but does thin out as you blend it. It’s very easy to work with and doesn’t set right away so you have plenty of time to blend it out. I think it applies and blends like a dream. Just as promised it’s super creamy, quite thick but blends easily, and feels very hydrating under eyes. Tarte Shape Tape Ultra Creamy Concealer Swatches (Original Shape Tape On the Right and the New Ultra Creamy on the left) Ironically swatched side by side below (original on the left and the new version on the right side) they do look the similar but when I apply them I can see the lighter peach undertone. I haven’t compared other colors but my original Shape Tape Shape and the new Ultra Creamy Concealer aren’t a match. I ended up sticking it out with 27B which seemed to better of the two shades. It’s described as a light medium with peach undertones (that’s me! but it’s too light!) and sadly, just as with the original formula, this was too light. Lucky enough I also picked up shade 27H which never worked for me in the original formula as it was too light. I found the shade was lighter and did have the pink undertone promised in the original formula. That being said the new creamy version actually fits that description more than the original shape tape. I personally feel the shade has a lighter peach undertone which is why it works so well for me. My shade is 27B which Tarte says is a light medium beige with pink undertones. The shade range is supposed to correspond with the original Shape Tape Collection. I appreciate this because if you pop them in your draw cap up you can easily tell the difference between the two. The main difference is packaging as the original as a darker purple zigzag on the cap and the new creamy version as a lighter lilac one. Tarte Shape Tape Ultra Creamy Concealer and the original Shape Tape Concealer are both 0.33 oz in size, $27 per shade, and available in 30 shades. The two products are vastly different and are in no way the same in regards to texture, formula, wear, and pigment.

Anyone that tells you Shape Tape Ultra Creamy Concealer is going to get you the exact same coverage you get from the original Shape Tape might be using something different than what I tried because I can’t say that and I won’t say that. It’s a good formula! It’s just not as pigmented as the original and the marketing and reviews coming in from a variety of different places can be misleading.

I think that’s why I’m not disappointed with it as I wasn’t expecting much and that’s exactly what I got. In my case, I’m very lucky the original Shape Tape Concealer doesn’t crease and it wears long on me without looking dry! When they introduced this new Shape Tape Ultra Creamy Concealer formula I was excited but I didn’t hype myself up into believing it would be as good as the original which is my ride or die. It’s either hydration or pigment and you do have to make a choice between the two. You just can’t have the best of both worlds when to concealer. I find that hydrating concealers aren’t pigmented 99.9% of the time. Fact of the matter is if you want a creamy, moisturizing concealer that’s pigmented chances are you won’t find it. I did a post last week about how I suspected Tarte Shape Tape Ultra Creamy Concealer wasn’t as pigmented as the original and I’m right. It has a moisturizing matte finish that’s ideal for drier or aging eyes that doesn’t settle nor cake into eyes while providing up to 24 hours of moisture and 12 hours of coverage. According to Tarte this is formulated with hyaluronic acid, vegan squalane, avocado, mango, and shea butters.

Tarte Shape Tape Ultra Creamy Concealer ($27) is a new, moisturizing, full coverage version of the original Shape Tape Concealer with a built-in eye cream that provides 24 hours hydration and coverage.
